Lauben-Gasse and Piazza Erbe

The town of Bolzano was founded around the year 1180. Its first street, the Lauben-Gasse or 'Arcaded Street', once Bolzano's only street, was the centre of the flourishing trading town. The prince bishop of Trento provided the building ground for this street, along the Emperors' Route from Brennero to Rome, and awarded the intentionally narrow buildings plots to tradesmen and craftsmen. The street was protected by a gate at both sides and Silber Gasse (Argentieri road), which runs parallel, had two towers, a wall and a defensive ditch. Important Dates

RW 2019 is aimed at a wide audience of young post-graduate researches, most typically early-stage Ph.D. candidates, but also advanced Master students and more senior Ph.D. candidates and PostDocs who want to deepen their knowledge. Although no specific background knowledge is required for attending the summer school, basics of knowledge representation and reasoning will be helpful for benefiting from the contents of school. Students are also committed to a full participation for the whole duration of the school.

The school will be open to about 60 qualified, motivated and pre-selected candidates. Participants will be selected according to the order of application, the quality of the submitted request and the institution of provenance to ensure a balanced group of people.

The registration fee is 350 EUR, reduced to 300 EUR for participants that also register to the BRAIN conferences. Reasoning Web will provide a limited number of grants covering (part of) the cost of attendance. Those interested in such a grant must give arguments in their application. Grants will be awarded based upon the background and the scientific performance of the applicants. The economic development level of applicant institutions will also be considered.

Candidates can apply by submitting an application document that contains the following information:

• A short statement of motivation (half a page)
• A CV (one page)
• Whether a letter of invitation is needed for visa applications

The application should be submitted as a single PDF file via the RW 2019 EasyChair page. For this, candidates should log in to EasyChair (create an account if needed), follow the aforementioned link, and upload their application as a new submission (using their name as submission title).

There are two application phases (early and late). Applicants to the early deadline will be preferred and receive notifications before the early-registration deadline of BRAIN 2019.
